Weights are one of the most important factors when building a winning PineCar racer. The heavier your racer is, the faster it will go! All PineCar weights are incremental and scored so sections may be broken off, even on race day.
Most racing specifications require your racer weigh as close to five ounces as you can get it, but must not exceed five ounces.
If using flat weights (tapered, strip or bar), carve or rout the bottom of your racer so the weight sits flush with the bottom of the racer. Be careful around wheel axle slots.
If using round or combo weights, drill a 3/8” hole and leave the weight loose until race day, in case you need to trim weight off. Then glue them carefully so that the weight doesn’t move.

Round Weights
Round Weights are easy to install. Drill 3/8" diameter hole in car. Cut off the weight you need, keeping car as heavy as specifications allow. Then insert the weight into the body of the racer. Fill with Body Putty (P3928), sand when dry, then paint. Approx. 1 oz. each.
The Tapered Weight is incremental, allowing adjustments to your car's weight, even on race day! Break off just enough to meet specifications, keeping car as heavy as possible. Attach the weight to the bottom or counter-sink it under the car with the screwes that are included. Approx. 2 oz.
Strip Weights are incremental, which allow adjustments to a car's weight, even on race day! Break off just enough to meet specifications, keeping the car as heavy as possible. Attach the weight to bottom of the racer, or counter-sink it under the car with the screws that are included. Approx. 1 oz. each.
Bar Weights are incremental, which allow adjustments to a car's weight, even on race day! Break off just enough to meet specifications, keeping the car as heavy as possible. Attach the weight to the bottom, or counter-sink it under the car with the screws, which are included. Approx. 2 oz.
Combo Weights are easy to install. Drill a 3/8" diameter hole in the car and install the weight in the hole. Fill the hole with Body Putty (P3928), sand when dry, then paint. You can also attach the weight to the side of the car. Cut off the weight you need, keeping car as heavy as specifications allow. Approx. 1/2 oz. each.
Our weights can be adjusted by hand right up until the big race. Attach weights to the bottom of your PineCar with the included double-stick tape. The weight and the tape are thin enough for the 3/8" clearance needed for most PineCar Races. The weights are also easily adjusted for various sizes of PineCars. Approx. 1 oz. each.
